Jie Luo, M.S., M.Ed.
Jie Luo is a PhD candidate in the Language and Cognition program at the University of Connecticut under the mentorship of Dr. Fumiko Hoeft, where she also earned her Master of Science (2023). She completed a Master of Education (2021) at Beijing Normal University. Jie Luo’s research focuses on the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychopathology, and educational applications. She aims to bridge research and practice to support individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, especially reading disability and dyslexia. This goal drives her involvement in interdisciplinary PhD training and applied work, including the training in the TRANSdisciplinary Convergence in Educational Neuroscience Doctoral (TRANSCEND) program, the internship at the Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities at the Connecticut State Department of Education. To date, she has co-authored 16 peer-reviewed and under-review articles, including four as first or co-first authors. Her work addresses neural mechanisms of reading, emotional well-being, and learning difficulties, with a strong emphasis on integrating scientific evidence into effective educational strategies to improve reading outcomes and overall well-being for individuals with reading disabilities and dyslexia.
